This week in adaptation trailers: April 12 to 18

‘Man on Fire’

Netflix released a trailer for its remake of the Denzel Washington movie “Man on Fire.” This time a series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen, Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga and Scoot McNairy, the story follows a former mercenary seeking revenge and protecting the daughter of a late friend.

The series, based on A.J. Quinnell’s novel, comes to Netflix on April 30.

‘The Dog Stars’

Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin and Guy Pearce appear in the first trailer for the upcoming post-apocalyptic film “The Dog Stars.” It was adapted from Peter Heller’s 2012 novel of the same name. The story centers on the world after a pandemic wipes out most of humanity. Elordi stars as a pilot living in an abandoned hangar with his dog and an ex-Marine (Brolin). They navigate the post-pandemic landscape—and its threats.

It premieres in theaters on Aug. 28.

‘Jack Ryan: Ghost War’

Jack Ryan is pulled away from his civilian desk job and back into the world of secrecy in the new trailer for “Jack Ryan: Ghost War.” Ryan, played by John Krasinkski, discovers suspicious bank transfers, leading him on “a deadly game of cat and mouse throughout Europe and the Middle East, with a rising terrorist figurehead preparing for a massive attack against the U.S. and her allies.

The film heads to Prime Video on May 20.

‘The Terror: Devil in Silver’

“The Terror” made its long-awaited return to AMC on Wednesday with the first trailer for Season 3, subtitled “Devil in Silver.”

Based on the book of the same name by Victor LaValle, the third season of the horror anthology series stars Dan Stevens, Judith Light and CCH Pounder. It’s set to premiere on AMC+ and Shudder on May 7.

The trailer opens with Stevens’ character being arrested and taken to a psychiatric institution after assaulting a man. He begins seeing creepy and terrifying visions.

‘Little House on the Prairie’

Netflix released the first teaser trailer for its reboot of “Little House on the Prairie” starring Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, the author of the popular series of books.

Halsey narrates the trailer, which shows scenes from the upcoming series as the Ingalls family takes on the task of moving and building their new home in the wild Kansas prairie. The series, which is set to hit Netflix on July 9, 2026, stars Luke Bracey as Pa/Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald as Ma/Caroline and Skywalker Hughes as Mary. Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys”) serves as developer and showrunner.

‘Good Omens Season 3’

The trailer for the final season of “Good Omens” dropped on Wednesday—and it’s pure chaos.

Season 3 picks up right after the events of the last season—which aired in summer 2023. The trailer shows that Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), the angel/bookstore owner, is now the Supreme Archangel of Heaven. He is in charge of the Second Coming, which, of course, is stressing him out.

Demon Crowley (David Tennant) mourns what could’ve been with Aziraphale and wanders Soho, feeling lost and rejected.

The series finale will premiere on May 13 on Prime Video. Season 3 was originally set to be six episodes but was later reduced to a single, 90-minute episode.

‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’

Lionsgate dropped the trailer for “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” Monday.

The film centers on Haymitch Abernathy’s origin story. Played by Joseph Zada in the film and Woody Harrelson in the other “Hunger Games” films, it begins on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, aka the Second Quarter Quell.

Ralph Fiennes plays President Snow, with Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket and Maya Hawke as Wiress. Jesse Plemons appears as Plutarch Heavensbee, alongside Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier and Lili Taylor as Mags Flanagan.

The film, based on “Sunrise on the Reaping” by Suzanne Collins, premieres in theaters Nov. 20.
