Netflix released the first teaser trailer for its reboot of “Little House on the Prairie” starring Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, the author of the popular series of books.
Halsey narrates the trailer, which shows scenes from the upcoming series as the Ingalls family takes on the task of moving and building their new home in the wild Kansas prairie.
“Once upon a time, Ma and Pa and Mary and Laura left the big woods of Wisconsin and moved to the prairie,” she says.
“Their new life was waiting for them. Every day and every night was an adventure. And even though they were all alone and very small against the sky and the stars, they were happy because they were a family and they were together.”
The series, which is set to hit Netflix on July 9, 2026, stars Luke Bracey as Pa/Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald as Ma/Caroline and Skywalker Hughes as Mary. Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys”) serves as developer and showrunner.
Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote eight autobiographical children’s books that would later go on to be adapted into the long-running “Little House on the Prairie” series starring Melissa Gilbert and Michael Landon starting in 1974. The series also inspired spinoff books and other books compiled from Wilder’s writings after her 1957 death at age 90.
Netflix has renewed the series for a second season.
