About Booked & Screened

Booked & Screened follows books as they become movies and television — from early announcements to final releases.

What we do

Booked & Screened keeps track of book-to-film and book-to-TV adaptations. We’re building a searchable database so readers can discover what’s being adapted, what’s already out and what’s still in the works. The database will launch soon.

We also publish:

  • Coverage of newly announced adaptations
  • Recommendations on what to read and watch
  • Notes on adaptations that work, and why others don’t
  • Straightforward reporting on books and screen projects

We pay attention to who’s involved, how projects take shape and whether the final result works.

Who we are

Booked & Screened is run by two journalists, former coworkers and longtime friends — one on the East Coast, the other in the South.

Between us, we have more than four decades of experience in journalism.

We’re in a book club together and we almost always disagree, which turns out to be useful for this project.

Why we do this

Adaptations are everywhere, but it’s often hard to keep track of them or figure out what’s worth your time. We started Booked & Screened because we wanted a clearer, more useful way to follow adaptations.

We also really like pop culture.

This site is for people who want to know what’s coming next, what it’s based on and whether it’s worth checking out.

If a story’s getting adapted, we’re paying attention.
