Lionsgate dropped the trailer for “Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” Monday.
The film centers on Haymitch Abernathy’s origin story. Played by Joseph Zada in the film and Woody Harrelson in the other “Hunger Games” films, it begins on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, aka the Second Quarter Quell.
The events of the film take place 24 years before Katniss’ was a tribute in “The Hunger Games.”
Ralph Fiennes plays President Snow, with Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket and Maya Hawke as Wiress. Jesse Plemons appears as Plutarch Heavensbee, alongside Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier and Lili Taylor as Mags Flanagan.
The Second Quarter Quell was known for being bigger and more brutal than the traditional Games.
“Twice the amount of tributes, twice the glory,” Glenn Close’s character announces gleefully.
The clip shows Haymitch being separated from his love, having a tense meeting with President Snow and the games themselves.
The film, based on “Sunrise on the Reaping” by Suzanne Collins, premieres in theaters Nov. 20.
