Netflix dropped the first 3 minutes of “Heartstopper Forever” on Wednesday, featuring the movie’s opening credits and a look at the first scene.

The first scene covers the beginning of the sixth and final volume of the graphic novel series by Alice Oseman, which was originally published as a webcomic. Here, Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) is giving his head boy candidate speech at Truham Grammar School, discussing hard topics of bullying, homophobia and mental health. We also get a look at Charlie’s boyfriend, Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), giving him a pep talk and his friends Tao (William Gao) and Issac (Tobie Donovan) supporting Charlie from the audience. 

“Heartstopper Forever” is a film that wraps up Nick and Charlie’s story, following the three-season TV series. It adapts the final volume of the graphic novel series and the “Nick and Charlie” novella. 

The ensemble cast faces challenges of growing up, applying to university, with Nick navigating the potential of a long-distance relationship with Charlie as he finishes up his final year at Truham. 

“Heartsopper Forever” premieres on Netflix on July 17.
