Action-packed animes, your favorite animated superheroes and all the Pixar and Disney you can handle—animation isn’t just for kids anymore. Below are the animated adaptations being released in the coming months.

‘Steel Ball Run JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’ Second Stage
Streaming Sept. 25 on Netflix

Set in the 19th-century United States, “Steel ball Run JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” follows Johnny Joestar, a former jockey who lost the use of his legs in an accident. He forms a partnership with outlaw Gyro Zeppeli and the pair enter a cross-continental horse race for a grand prize. It is based on Hirohiko Araki’s 2004 manga “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Part 7–Steel Ball Run, Vol. 5.”  Yasuhiro Kimura directs and Damon Mills and Kaiji Tang star. The series initially premiered March 20 on Netflix, and the 2nd stage will be released September 25.

‘Lego One Piece’
Streaming Sept. 29 on Netflix

Netflix is releasing yet another offering from the “One Piece” manga franchise—”Lego One Piece.” The animated collaboration between the makers of Lego and “One Piece” is a retelling of the events from the first two seasons of the live-action series. The actors from the live-action series—including Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar and Mikaela Hooever—are voicing the animated characters.

The two-part limited series releases Sept. 29, the third season of the live-action series comes out in 2027 and Season 1 of the animated “The One Piece” will debut in February, all on Netflix.

‘The Ramparts of Ice’ Season 2
Airing Oct. 1 on TBS

Just a few months after Season 1 of “The Ramparts of Ice” concluded on TBS, the anime series announced its return in a post on X. Season 2 of the slice-of-life teen romance will return to the network on Oct. 1, 2026. Based on the Japanese web manga of the same name, the series follows loner high schooler Koyuki Hikawa (Anna Nagase). Three new friends—Miki Azumi (Fūka Izumi), Minato Amamiya (Shōya Chiba) and Yota Hino (Satoshi Inomata) help to bring her out of her shell. The manga is written by Kōcha Agasawa and the series is created by Agasawa Tea (“You and I Are Polar Opposites”).

‘Get Jiro’
Airing Oct. 3 on Adult Swim

Adult Swim released its first trailer for the animated series “Get Jiro” based on the graphic novels by Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose. The network also announced a release date for the series—Oct. 3. “Get Jiro” is about an unconventional sushi chef who comes to Los Angeles, where master chefs are the most important people in town and people kill for a seat at their restaurants. The series features the voices of Titus Welliver, Alison Pill, Justin Kirk and Brian Tee.

‘Ranma 1/2’ Season 3
Airing Oct. 6 on Netflix

“Ranma 1/2” is based on Rumiko Takahashi’s manga of the same name, which was first serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1987 to 1996.

“The series follows Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo, who have been betrothed to each other by their parents. But Ranma faces a unique problem… Ever since he fell into the cursed springs of Jusenkyo while training in China, his body has acquired the peculiar trait of transforming into a girl when doused with cold water and reverting to a boy with hot water,” the official synopsis reads.

‘Wildwood’
In theaters Oct. 23

From the creators of “Coraline,” this new stop-motion animated horror film is coming to theaters on Oct. 23. “Wildwood” is based on the novel of the same name by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis. The tagline reads, “Wildwood is a sweeping, darkly magical adventure about a young girl who ventures into a dangerous hidden forest to rescue her brother—an odyssey shaped by love, power, and the courage to confront the unknown.”

‘The Cat in the Hat’
In theaters Nov. 6

The classic children’s book by Dr. Seuss is coming back to the big screen in a new animated movie, set to be released in theaters on Nov. 6. “The Cat in the Hat” boasts a new twist on the typical tale, where the cat is sent by the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC) to cheer up two siblings as they move to a new town. The film will include the usual chaos and stars Bill Hader as the titular Cat in the Hat, along with Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson and Paula Pell in the cast.

‘Steps’
Streaming Nov. 20 on Netflix

The new Netflix animated adaptation of the “Cinderella” story, called “Steps,” tells the little-known story of Cinderella’s evil stepsisters, Lilith (Ali Wong) and Margot (Stephanie Hsu). Lilith steals the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and takes over the ball with Margot. 

“This dooms the kingdom to the tyrannical rule of the villainous Priscilla, who swoops in and snatches the throne,” a synopsis of the adaptation reads. 

Lilith and Margot must team up with Cinderella (Amanda Seyfried) on a quest to save the kingdom.

‘Fool Night’
Streaming Nov. 26 on Netflix

Netflix’s second teaser trailer for “Fool Night” announced a Nov. 26 release date for the anime series. The series is adapted from the manga by Kasumi Yasuda. Director Atsushi Yukawa is helming the project, which tells of a dystopian future in which most of Earth’s plant life has died after thick clouds permanently block the sun. To provide humans the oxygen they need to survive, a new technology is created to transform people near death into plants in a process called Transfloration. 

“A young man, Toshiro Kamiya, lives in poverty and works hard to pay taxes, cover living expenses and afford medication for his mentally ill mother,” a synopsis of the series reads. “However, the cruel reality around him gradually eats away at his hope. 

“Should he continue living as a human being, or cast off his suffering and start a new life as a plant?”

‘In Waves’
Streaming Dec. 11 on Netflix

An animated adaptation of “In Waves” will be released Dec. 11 on Netflix. The feature film is an adaptation of the autobiographical graphic novel of the same name by AJ Dungo. The film, directed by Phuong Mai Nguyen, features the voices of Will Sharpe and Stephanie Hsu as teenagers falling in love and facing the consequences of a sudden illness.

‘Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse’
In theaters June 18

“Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” which is slated for release June 18, 2027, will cap the trilogy that started with “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” (2018) and continued with “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” (2023). “Across the Spider-Verse” ended on a cliffhanger, with Miles captured by a villainous alternate version of himself, and Spider-Gwen/Gwen Stacy assembling a team of spider-powered allies to rescue him.

“Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” is directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson from a script by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and David Callaham. Lord, Miller, Persichetti and Thompson screened an unfinished clip from the start of the third film at 2026 CinemaCon. The footage showed Miles escaping from the predicament he was left in at the close of the previous film.

‘Shrek 5’
In theaters June 30

Shrek (Mike Myers) and Donkey (Eddie Murphy) head off on a new adventure to Further Further Away in the new “Shrek 5.” The film features the typical cast of characters for a “Shrek” movie—Fiona (Cameron Diaz), the Gingerbread Man and even Shrek and Fiona’s now-grown children, Felicia (Zendaya), Farkle (Skyler Gisondo) and Fergus (Marcello Hernández). The animated film is inspired by the 1990 children’s book by William Steig.
