‘Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ to get third, final season
Just days after releasing the second season of “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder,” Netflix announced Tuesday the mystery series will get a third and final season. Starring Emma Myers as teen sleuth Pippa Fitz-Amobi, the third season will adapt the third book in the book series by Holly Jackson—“As Good as Dead.”
The four-episode final season will include the return of Zain Iqbal, Henry Ashton, Asha Banks, Jude Morgan-Collie, Eden H. Davies and Yali Topol Margalith. Filming has already wrapped and the season is set to premiere sometime in 2027.
Edward Bluemel cast as Poirot in new ‘Hercule’ series
BritBox announced Monday it is bringing a new series about Hercule Poirot—the famed Belgian detective from Agatha Christie’s books—to the screen with “Hercule.” The series will star Edward Bluemel (“My Lady Jane”) in the titular role, perhaps made most famous by David Suchet in “Agatha Christie’s Poirot” and later played by Kenneth Branagh in a trio of films.
No further details were announced about other cast members or a release date.
‘Lupin’ Part 4 releasing October 23
Omar Sy is reprising his role as Assane Diop for a fourth season of “Lupin,” Netflix announced Monday. The French mystery thriller is inspired by stories about Arsène Lupin, the so-called gentleman thief, created by Maurice Leblanc.
Part 4 picks up where Part 3 left off—Lupin turning himself in to police to protect his wife, child, mother and best friend. The new season comes to Netflix on October 23.
Hugh Jackman to star in ‘Treasure Island’ film
Filmmaker Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions is set to tackle an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 novel “Treasure Island,” Deadline and Variety reported Monday. Hugh Jackman will star as Long John Silver in the high seas adventure, and Scott will direct and produce. “Treasure Island” tells the story of Jim, a young man who finds a treasure map and goes about the ship Hispaniola to seek out the booty. Instead, the ship faces mutiny by Long John Silver. No other casting or a release date have been announced.
Director shares ‘Beach Read’ behind-the-scenes pic
Filmmaker Yulin Kuang shared a behind-the-scenes photo of Patrick Schwarzenegger and Phoebe Dynevor on the set of “Beach Read” on Monday. Kuang announced that filming has officially started on the romantic-comedy, which is set to release May 7, 2027.
“A crumb of bts from the BEACH READ camera test for you, dear reader,” she wrote. “Can’t wait to show what we’ve been cooking up.”
Also starring Kristin Davis and Tig Notaro, the novel by Emily Henry centers on January (Dynevor), a romance writer, and her rival, Gus (Schwarzenegger), a literary fiction author. The writers are both struggling with different kinds of loss. They decide to swap genres for the summer while living in neighboring beach houses. Will they swap anything else? Stay tuned.
‘The End of The World Running Club’ to be adapted
Adrian J. Walker’s post-apocalyptic novel “The End of The World Running Club” is set to be adapted, Deadline reported Monday. Walker confirmed the news with a post on Instagram. Candr Pictures has optioned the rights to the book and will turn it into a movie set to be written and directed by Chris Reading. The novel follows Scottish man Ed as he tries to reach his family after a destructive asteroid strikes Europe, forcing people to flee Britain. No casting or release date has been announced.
