Lewis Pullman joins ‘Guilty Creatures’
Lewis Pullman is joining Julia Garner (“The Fantastic Four: First Steps”) in the true crime thriller “Guilty Creatures,” adapted from Mikita Brottman’s book. Garner is also set to executive produce the series alongside director Craig Gillespie (“Supergirl”). Sarah DeLappe is writing the script.
The book tells the true story of the 2000 murder of Mike Williams, whose wife allegedly directed their mutual friend—and her second husband—Brian Winchester to shoot him. Brottman’s book detailing the case was published in 2024.
Harlan Coben’s ‘Myron Bolitar’ series adds Jabari Banks, Chloe Fineman
Jabari Banks, Chloe Fineman and Ben McKenzie have joined the cast of Netflix’s next Harlan Coben adaptation “Myron Bolitar.” Banks will play tennis star Dwayne Richmond, Fineman will play sports reporter Parker Quinn and McKenzie will play NYPD detective Ray Dimonte.
Colin Woodell (“The Call of the Wild”), KJ Apa (“Riverdale”) and Diane Guerrero (“The Lincoln Lawyer”) lead the series. The show is an adaptation of the Coben book series that began with 1995’s “Deal Breaker.”
“After an injury ends his NBA dreams, Myron Bolitar (Woodell) reinvents himself as a sports agent—using charm, smarts and a ruthless partner to navigate the high-stakes and dirty world of sports, where saving his clients often means risking himself,” a synopsis of the series reads. Greg Yaitanes is set to direct the series, which was written by David E. Kelley and Kyle Long.
Nell Tiger Free to star in Masterpiece’s ‘The Portrait of a Lady’
Henry James’ classic “The Portrait of a Lady” is getting the Masterpiece treatment. The story is being adapted by Rebecca Lenkiewicz and directed by Aisling Walsh. The six-episode limited series stars Nell Tiger Free (“The First Omen,” “Servant”) as Isabel Archer, who leaves America for Europe. She inherits a fortune and becomes the target of two manipulative expatriates, Madame Merle (Gemma Arterton) and Gilbert Osmond (Jim Sturgess). Bill Nighy and Miranda Richardson also star.
The novel was adapted in 1996 into a film starring Nicole Kidman, directed by Jane Campion. The film was nominated for two Oscars for Best Supporting Actress for Barbara Hershey and Best Costume Design.
Disney+ orders ‘Afterlife With Archie’
Disney+ has ordered the “Riverdale” series “Afterlife With Archie,” based on the comic books by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Francesco Francavilla. The logline for the drama series says: “When a supernatural spell from a certain teen-witch backfires, unleashing an army of the possessed dead upon Riverdale, Archie and his friends must fight to stay alive, testing the friendships, romances and loyalties that have always held them together.”
Aguirre-Sacasa and Jimmy Gibbons of Muckle Man will be the executive producers along with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman of Berlanti Productions and Jon Goldwater via Archie Comics Studios.
