Apple TV announced Monday that it’s bringing Mikita Brottman’s true crime book, “Guilty Creatures,” to the screen with Julia Garner set to star. 

Garner (“The Fantastic Four: First Steps”) is also set to executive produce the series alongside director Craig Gillespie (“Supergirl”). Sarah DeLappe is writing the script.

The book tells the true story of the 2000 murder of Mike Williams, whose wife directed their mutual friend—and her second husband—Brian Winchester to shoot him. Brottman’s book detailing the case was published in 2024. 

“Based on the book ‘Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida,’ the series delves into the psyche of a torrid romance and subsequent act of murder between two young, adulterous but God-fearing lovers, unraveling their complex lives and the emotional toll of living as killers for 18 years,” a synopsis of the series reads. “This riveting true-crime narrative, set against a backdrop of sex and murder in the Florida panhandle, promises to become an instant classic.”

Tomorrow Studios is producing the series along with Garner’s Alma Margo, and Annie Marter and Gillespie’s Fortunate Jack Productions. Showrunner Stuart Zicherman, DeLappe and Brottman will executive produce.
