The film centers on Ashley Preston (Ma) and her husband Elliot (Wilson) who take in their orphaned niece Serena (Aliyah Marc) after the death of Ashley’s sister.

Things take a dark turn as Serena and Ashley’s own daughter, Luna (Sasha Rojen), both start acting out. Ashley has to figure out what is happening in her typically calm and happy home.

Liv Constantine is the pen name of authors and sisters Lynne and Valerie Constantine. The pair is known for its slate of bestselling domestic thrillers. “The Last Mrs. Parrish,” one of the duo’s breakout novels, is also in development as a Netflix film starring Jennifer Lopez and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

“Don’t Trust the Girls Upstairs” premieres June 20 at 8 p.m. EDT.

About the writer

Daisy Horowitz usually prefers romance and romantasy novels over dark thrillers, but she admits family secrets and dramatic households can still pull her in. When she’s not reading, she’s likely making homemade mustard and sauerkraut or teaching her bearded dragon Pierre tricks.
