The “After Dark” show will premiere May 24 with a preview episode one week before “The Vampire Lestat” debuts June 7.
Emily Henry asks readers to ‘trust’ ‘Beach Read’ casting
Author Emily Henry responded Tuesday to readers who weren’t so pleased with some of the casting announcements for the upcoming adaptation of her book, “Beach Read.” During an appearance on “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle,” Henry praised Yulin Kuang, the writer and director of the film, calling her “brilliant.”
“I also have to sit back and let it unfold,” Henry said of the adaptation process. “It is our baby—the readers’ and my baby—but it’s also the filmmakers’ baby and the studio’s baby, and I’m along for the ride with the readers and we just have to trust the vision.”
Patrick Schwarzenegger and Phoebe Dynevor have been cast as the romantic leads in the film.
Casting announced for ‘Boys of Tommen’
Prime Video announced casting for its forthcoming romance series “Boys of Tommen.” Nancy Surridge will play Shannon Lynch, Conor Sánchez is Johnny Kavanagh, James O’Donoghue is Joey Lynch and Sophie McGibbon is Aoife Molloy.
The series is an adaptation of Chloe Walsh’s TikTok-famous “Boys of Tommen” books. It tells the story of the forbidden romance between Shannon and Johnny at the prestigious Irish private school Tommen College. Bette Midler joins ‘Steps’ voice cast
The new Netflix animated adaptation of the “Cinderella” story, called “Steps,” will include legendary actor and singer Bette Midler as the Fairy Godmother. “Steps” tells the little-known story of Cinderella’s evil stepsisters, Lilith (Ali Wong) and Margot (Stephanie Hsu). Lilith steals the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and takes over the ball with Margot.
“This dooms the kingdom to the tyrannical rule of the villainous Priscilla, who swoops in and snatches the throne,” a synopsis of the adaptation reads.
Lilith and Margot must team up with Cinderella (Amanda Seyfried) on a quest to save the kingdom.
