The pipeline from page to screen shows no signs of slowing. Here’s a quick look at the latest adaptation announcements, casting updates and projects in development.

Daisy Edgar-Jones cast in ‘Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow

Paramount’s adaptation of Gabrielle Zevin’s bestselling 2022 novel, “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow” has its first cast member: Daisy Edgar-Jones (“Normal People.”) Siân Heder will direct the film.

‘Heated Rivalry’ creator developing ‘Alexander’ series

“Heated Rivalry” creator Jacob Tierney is set to write, direct and executive produce the upcoming Netflix series “Alexander,” a period drama exploring the relationship between Alexander the Great and his tutor, Aristotle. The project is based on Annabel Lyon’s 2009 novel “The Golden Mean.”  

‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 is No. 1 on Netflix

Season 4, Part 2 of “Bridgerton” is currently the No. 1 show on Netflix with 28 million views. The love story between Benedict and Sophie has caught the attention of both the Ton and viewers. The day after Part 2’s release, Episode 5’s version of Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” performed by Vitamin String Quartet, saw a 2,290% increase in U.S. Spotify streams.

‘The Night Agent’ Season 3 reaches No. 2 on Netflix

Season 3 of “The Night Agent” drew 9.9 million views on Netflix. The strong showing also boosted earlier seasons of the series, with Season 1 landing at No. 5 (2.9 million views) and Season 2 at No. 8 (2.7 million views) on the platform’s Top 10 list.

‘Little House on the Prairie’ reboot renewed for Season 2

Netflix has renewed its “Little House on the Prairie” reboot for a second season ahead of the first season’s debut. The series will premiere July 9. Like the original show, the reboot is based on the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Alice Halsey (“Lessons in Chemistry”) will play Laura Ingalls.

‘Dark’ star Lisa Vicari to lead ‘Struwwelpeter’ series

“Dark” star Lisa Vicari is reuniting with the show’s creators, Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, for their next project. She will lead their HBO Max series based on Heinrich Hoffmann’s 1845 German children’s book “Struwwelpeter.”

‘Treasure Island’ series in development

Paramount+ and MGM+ are developing a “Treasure Island” series starring David Oyelowo, Hayley Atwell and Jack Huston as Long John Silver, Bess Hawkins and Aaron Graham. Tomer Capone and Tom Sweet will co-star. The project is based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 novel “Treasure Island.”

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan joins ‘Elle’ Season 2

“Never Have I Ever” star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will appear in Season 2 of “Elle.” The Prime Video series is a prequel to the film “Legally Blonde,” which was adapted from Amanda Brown’s 2001 novel of the same name. Lexi Minetree stars as Elle during her high school years. The series was picked up for a second season before the Season 1 premiere, which will stream July 1, 2026.

Star-studded ‘Losing Earth’ adaptation in the works

Paul Rudd, Evan Peters, Paul Giamatti, Tatiana Maslany, John Turturro and Jason Clarke are set to star in Tom McCarthy’s next film. The movie is based on Nathaniel Rich’s 2019 book “Losing Earth: A Recent History.” Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are executive producers.

‘If We Were Villains’ series in development

The team behind HBO’s “Genera+ion” is developing a television adaptation of M.L. Rio’s 2017 novel “If We Were Villains.”

‘Exorcist’ film adds John Leguizamo and Sasha Calle

John Leguizamo and Sasha Calle have joined the cast of Mike Flanagan’s upcoming “Exorcist” film, which already stars Scarlett Johansson. The project takes place within the world of “The Exorcist,” the horror franchise that began with William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel of the same name, but the new movie will tell an original story. The cast also includes Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The film is scheduled to premiere in March 2027.

Josh Finan joins ‘Custom of the Country’ cast

British actor Josh Finan will star opposite Sydney Sweeney and Leo Woodall in “The Custom of the Country.” The film is based on Edith Wharton’s 1913 novel “The Custom of the Country.” Finan was most recently seen in the Netflix comedy-drama series “How to Get to Heaven From Belfast.”

‘Fake Skating’ adaptation is in development

Lynn Painter’s book romantic-comedy book “Fake Skating” is being developed into a feature film. The author announced the news on Instagram.
