Hallmark is heading to Europe with its latest book adaptation, “Paris Is Always a Good Idea,” starring Hallmark favorite Lacey Chabert (“Mean Girls”) and Scott Michael Foster (“Once Upon A Time”).

The six-episode limited series, based on Jenn McKinlay’s bestselling 2020 novel of the same name, premieres July 30 on Hallmark+.

Chabert stars as Chelsea, a career-driven woman who travels to Paris with her co-worker Jason (Foster) to secure a donation for the nonprofit where they work. A message from her late mother and encouragement from her sister inspire Chelsea to revisit a gap year that took her across Europe—and reconnect with three great loves from her past.

The series takes Chelsea through Ireland, Paris and Spain as she revisits her old relationships while Jason accompanies her on the journey. And, because this is Hallmark, traveling through Europe with a handsome co-worker might just complicate Chelsea’s plans.

“Paris Is Always a Good Idea” marks Chabert’s first scripted series for Hallmark after starring in more than 40 movies for the network.

McKinlay’s novel follows Chelsea as she retraces a year spent traveling through Europe before her mother’s death. The book puts Chelsea’s emotional journey at the center as she searches for the fun-loving person she used to be and revisits the three men she once loved along the way.

The Hallmark+ adaptation appears to put more emphasis on Chelsea and Jason’s relationship, adding a familiar Hallmark ingredient to the book’s mix of romance, travel and self-reflection.

“Paris Is Always a Good Idea” joins a growing list of book adaptations from Hallmark.

Earlier this year, “Sugar & Vice: A Hannah Swensen Mystery,” adapted from Joanne Fluke’s “Sugar Cookie Murder,” became the 13th installment in the long-running mystery franchise. It was followed in May by “Best Served Cold: A Hannah Swensen Mystery,” another entry inspired by Fluke’s book series.

Hallmark is also airing Season 2 of “The Chicken Sisters,” based on K.J. Dell’Antonia’s 2020 novel. The series premiered on Hallmark+ in 2024 before moving to the Hallmark Channel. The second season has moved beyond the events of Dell’Antonia’s novel.

And more adaptations are on the way. Lori Loughlin will return as Jennifer Shannon for a new “Garage Sale Mystery” movie this fall, reviving the franchise based on Suzi Weinert’s mystery novels after a seven-year hiatus.

Bryn Donovan’s 2024 romance novel “Her Knight at the Museum” is also becoming a Hallmark movie, with production expected to begin this summer.

For now, romance readers can take a trip to Europe. The first two episodes of “Paris Is Always a Good Idea” premiere Thursday on Hallmark+, followed by new episodes weekly through Aug. 27.
