Amazon MGM Studios releases ‘Neagley’ poster
Amazon MGM Studios shared a poster for new series “Neagley.” Maria Sten stars as Frances Neagley in the new series, based on the character from Lee Child’s “Reacher” novels. Neagley is a private investigator in Chicago and was in the military with Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson). In this new series, she learns of a friend’s death and aims to find out what really happened. “Neagley” is created by executive producers and co-showrunners Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton. It will premiere on Sept. 16 on Prime Video.
Crave, AMC+ share image of ‘Yaga’ stars
On Friday, Crave and AMC+ shared a photo of Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo and Hudson Williams, stars of their mystery thriller series “Yaga.”
Above the photo, it says, “Not your grandmother’s Baba Yaga.” Kat Sandler is the writer of the series, based on her 2019 play, which was inspired by Slavic folklore. The post added: “Stay tuned for more at the San Diego Comic Con panel on July 25.”
‘Robin Hood’: James Purefoy, Colin O’Donoghue, Luke Roberts join S2
MGM+ announced that Season 2 of “Robin Hood” has begun filming in Serbia. Joining the cast are James Purefoy as King Henry, Colin O’Donoghue as Prince Richard and Luke Roberts as nobleman Amaury D’Montfort.
The series is produced by Lionsgate Television, with John Glenn as showrunner, Jonathan English as director and Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman as executive producer. The premiere date will be announced at a later time.
‘This Summer Will Be Different’: Francesca Reale, Roby Attal join Sophie Nelisse
On Friday, Netflix announced that Francesca Reale and Roby Attal are joining the cast of “This Summer Will Be Different” as Bridget and Felix. “Heated Rivalry” star Sophie Nélisse was announced as Lucy on Thursday.
The 10-episode romance series is an adaptation of the 2024 novel by Carley Fortune. It tells the story of Lucy, who falls in love with her best friend’s brother over the course of several summers on Canada’s Prince Edward Island.
‘Boys of Tommen’: More cast members announced for the romance adaptation
Prime Video announced Friday that more actors are joining the eagerly anticipated series “Boys of Tommen.” They include: Eoin Macken as Teddy Lynch, Róisín Gallagher as Marie Lynch, Amy Huberman as Edel Kavanagh, Jamie Schneider as Patrick Feely and James Craven as Pierce O’Neill. They join Nancy Surridge as Shannon Lynch, Conor Sánchez as Johnny Kavanagh, James O’Donoghue as Joey Lynch and Sophie McGibbon as Aoife Molloy.
The series is an adaptation of Chloe Walsh’s “Boys of Tommen” books. It tells the story of the forbidden romance between Shannon and Johnny at the prestigious Irish private school Tommen College. Poppy Cogan (“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder”) will act as lead writer and executive producer on the project.
English dub of ‘Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia’ to premiere July 18
The first two episodes of an English-dubbed version of “Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia” will premiere July 18 on Crunchyroll. Sitara is voiced by Cristina Vee, Fatima is voiced by Marwa Elda, Shira is voiced by Abi Kumar and Muhammad is voiced by Yussef Benelbar.
The series tells the story of Sitara, who is sold into slavery in the 13th century but devotes her life to the pursuit of knowledge. Later in her story she plots to get her revenge on those who have taken everything from her. It is adapted from “A Witch’s Life in Mongol” by Tomato Soup.
‘Drawn Together’ thriller romance: first look
On Friday, Prime Video shared a first look at “Drawn Together.” A clip shows Marfil and Sebastián meeting each other. The upcoming book-to-film adaptation of “Marfil” is the first installment of the “Enfrentados” duology by author Mercedes Ron.
Ester Expósito and Hugo Diego García star in the adaptation and a sequel, “Drawn Apart,” has been announced as part of Prime Video’s “House of Ron.” Óscar Pedraza will direct the film, with Sofía Cuenca as writer. It will premiere Sep. 9.
Animated comedy ‘All Wishes Come True’ to go international
Pearl Studio is bringing its Chinese animated film “All Wishes Come True” to other countries. The comedic story, which is inspired by “The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea,” follows eight mortals pretending to be immortals to get into a vault.
After its premiere in China on July 18, it will hit the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and the Netherlands on Aug. 14. It will premiere in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea on Aug. 13 and Belgium and Luxembourg on Sept. 4.
Matt Damon interested in returning as Jason Bourne
During an interview on “The Rich Eisen Show” on Friday, Matt Damon said he is still interested in playing Robert Ludlum character Jason Bourne. “The Odyssey” star said, “I’m talking to—there’s a great director named Ed Berger,” Damon said. “He did ‘All Quiet on the Western Front.’ He’s a wonderful director, and we’re talking about it. We’re just trying to figure out—we’re trying to nail the story down. Because I’d love to do it.”
