‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’: Jeff Hays to voice Princess Donut
Jeff Hays, the voice narrator and producer behind the “Dungeon Crawler Carl” audiobook series is joining Peacock and Fuzzy Door’s live-action TV adaptation as the voice of Princess Donut. The news was announced Thursday at San Diego Comic-Con.
‘Reacher’ Season 4: first look
The first look at Amazon’s “Reacher” Season 4 was released Thursday. It is based on the 2009 novel “Gone Tomorrow” by Lee Child. Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher, with new cast members including Chris Marquette, Sydelle Noel and AGNEZ MO.
“Reacher” follows Jack Reacher, who is thrown into a deadly game after a chance encounter on the subway. Season 4 premieres on Aug. 12.
Apple Studios to develop Rebecca Yarros’ ‘Peculiar Stars’
Apple Studios announced the adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ upcoming novel “Peculiar Stars” ahead of the book’s Nov. 17 release date. Yarros will serve as executive producer.
Yarros has several other adaptations in the works, with Amazon Studios acquiring the rights to her bestselling “Fourth Wing” series and rights to “The Things We Leave Unfinished” going to Lionsgate.
‘The Silent Patient’ adaptation update
Sony Pictures is joining the team behind “The Silent Patient” adaptation, along with Annapurna and Plan B as producers.
The 2019 novel by Alex Michaelides follows Alicia Berenson, a famous painter who murders her husband and falls silent, and a criminal psychotherapist who investigates her.
Michaelides said: “The question I get asked most often is ‘will there will be a film of The Silent Patient?’ – and I’m thrilled to be able to finally say the answer is: Yes! It’s been a long wait, and I’m so excited that all these characters I love – Alicia and Theo, Ruth and Dr Diomedes – are finally being brought to life. Once we know more about casting, I will be sure to update you.”
Jamie Campbell Bower to star as Celeborn in ‘LOTR’ S3
Jamie Campbell Bower joins the cast of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 3, announced by Empire Magazine on Wednesday. Bower is set to play Celeborn.
“Beyond elated and grateful to be joining this wonderful show and universe. X,” the actor said.
The Amazon Prime series looks at the events before the “Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” books, during the Second Age of Middle-earth. Season 3 is set at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as he looks to craft the One Ring. Season 3 will premiere on Nov. 11 on Prime Video.
AMC acquires ‘Kill Jackie’ starring Catherine Zeta-Jones
AMC announced the acquisition of the rights to “Kill Jackie,” based on the novel “The Price You Pay” by Nick Harkaway, writing under the pseudonym Aidan Truhen.
The description by AMC reads: “Kill Jackie follows Jackie Price (Zeta-Jones), who has spent the last twenty years living a quiet, luxurious existence selling fine art while remaining anonymous after escaping a criminal past. Her carefully constructed world is shattered when she discovers that The Seven Demons, a squad of ruthless assassins, have been hired to kill her. Jackie will need to unleash her old instincts and execute a dangerous plan to take down the Demons.”
Daniel Ings, Sidse Babett Knudsen and Bill Paterson also star. The eight-episode series will premiere on AMC+ this fall.

‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ S3 to premiere Nov. 20
The cast of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Season 3 and executive producers Craig Silverstein and Dan Shotz appeared at San Diego Comic-Con Thursday to promote the new season of the fantasy series. Season 3 is set to premiere Nov. 20 on Disney+.
Season 3 takes the third book in the book series of the same name by Rick Riordan to the screen for the first time. “The Titan’s Curse” follows Percy (Walker Scobell) as he competes with the Great Prophecy and deals with the sudden disappearance of Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries). It also marks the first appearance of fan-favorite Nico di Angelo (Levi Christopulos) and sister Bianca (Olive Abercrombie).
Melissa Benoist, Bebe Neuwirth, more join ‘Myron Bolitar’ series
Ten new cast members were announced for the “Myron Bolitar” series, with Ra’Mya Latiah Aikens joining as a series regular. The other nine are slated as recurring guest stars, including Isaiah Hill as Jayden Elder, Amanda Warren as Deanna Richmond and Quincy Isaiah as Rodney Keys. They join recently announced cast members Colin Woodell, KJ Apa, Diane Guerrero, Jabari Banks, Chloe Fineman and Ben McKenzie.
The series description reads: “After an injury ends his NBA dreams, Myron Bolitar (Woodell) reinvents himself as a sports agent—using charm, smarts and a ruthless partner to navigate the high-stakes and dirty world of sports, where saving his clients often means risking himself.”
