‘The Ghost in the Shell’ (2026)
Streaming July 7 on Prime Video

Japanese studio Science SORU’s new anime adaptation of “The Ghost in the Shell” is set in Japan in 2029. The long-running franchise, which includes manga, film, TV and game series, follows the members of a group tasked with solving and preventing crime. The team, led by full-body cyborg Motoko Kusanagi, happens upon  the “Puppet Master,” a hacker. The series is set to air on July 7 on Prime Video in the United States. 

‘The Five-Star Weekend’
Streaming July 9 on Peacock

Jennifer Garner stars as famed cook and bestselling author Hollis Shaw in Peacock’s “The Five Star Weekend.” The series is an adaptation of a 2023 novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand. The story centers on Hollis, who suffers a life-changing loss. She spirals as she learns of marital issues, faces pressure to keep up with fans and butts heads with her daughter. She decides to host close friends at her Nantucket house for a pick-me-up. Bekah Brunstetter is the creator and screenwriter of the series. D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall and Chloë Sevigny also star. It premieres July 9.

‘Little House on the Prairie’
Streaming July 9 on Netflix

Netflix’s reboot of “Little House on the Prairie” is based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s eight autobiographical children’s books. The books were initially adapted into the long-running “Little House on the Prairie” series starring Melissa Gilbert and Michael Landon starting in 1974. The series also inspired spinoff books and other books compiled from Wilder’s writings. It stars Alice Halsey, Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald and Skywalker Hughes. Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys”) serves as developer and showrunner. The series is set to hit Netflix on July 9.

‘Moana’
In theaters July 10

The live-action version of “Moana” stars Catherine Laga’aia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson as the demigod Maui. Like the 2016 animated version of the film, Moana must persuade the demigod Maui to go on a dangerous adventure to save her island community of Motunui. The story of “Moana” is inspired by hundreds of years of Polynesian legends and storytelling.  The film, which also stars John Tui, Frankie Adams, Rena Owen and Jemaine Clement, hits theaters July 10.
