‘Children of Blood and Bone’ author Tomi Adeyemi says she won’t watch the adaptation
On Saturday, ‘Children of Blood and Bone’ author Tomi Adeyemi answered fans who asked why she wasn’t mentioning the book’s adaptation. She shared screenshots of her answers on TikTok and Instagram. “There is a reason I will not post anything about the adaptation of my work,” she said in one. She also shared a screenshot of a message to star Amandla Stenberg not to mention her in interviews or call or text her. In addition, she said, “And lastly since someone asked- I have not seen the film, and I will not watch it. It’s been painful holding this back from you all. And I’m sorry if any of you thought I didn’t care. I will always care about US. More than any glitter.”
Paramount is adapting the fantasy book and the film is set to be released on Jan. 15, 2027. Alongside Stenberg, Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lashana Lynch, Idris Elba and Viola Davis star.
‘Count My Lies’ wraps filming
“Count My Lies” author Sophie Stava announced Saturday that filming wrapped on the novel’s adaptation. The author posted on Instagram: “That’s a wrap for nyc! The brother and I spent the week on the set of Count My Lies watching magic being made!”
Lindsay Lohan stars in the limited series as rich and glamorous Violet Lockhart, who is married to Jay, played by “Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington. The “Mean Girls” star hires a nanny, Sloane Caraway, played by Shailene Woodley (“Big Little Lies”), who lies her way into the position. François Arnaud, Katherine LaNasa and Sophia Bush also star in the thriller.
Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who worked on “This Is Us,” are the showrunners for the adaptation.
‘The Hunger Games’ releases ‘Meet Haymitch’ featurette
Lionsgate and “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” shared a featurette titled “Meet Haymitch” on Saturday. The clip features behind-the-scenes looks and soundbites from director and producer Francis Lawrence, producer Nina Jacobson, Haymitch star Joseph Zada, Effie Trinket star Elle Fanning and Plutarch Heavensbee star Jesse Plemons. McKenna Grace and Ben Wang, who play new characters, also speak in the clip. The film centers on Haymitch Abernathy’s (Zada) origin story. Played by Woody Harrelson in the other “Hunger Games” films, it begins on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, aka the Second Quarter Quell. The events of the film take place 24 years before Katniss was a tribute in “The Hunger Games.” The film, based on “Sunrise on the Reaping” by Suzanne Collins, premieres in theaters Nov. 20.
‘One Piece: Heroines’ premieres July 5 on Crunchyroll
“One Piece: Heroines,” which started as light novels in One Piece Magazine and then stand-alone stories, has been adapted into an anime series on Crunchyroll. Each story focuses on a “One Piece” female character. The episodes follow Nami, voiced by Akemi Okamura; Robin, voiced by Yuriko Yamaguchi; Miucha, voiced by Maaya Sakamoto; and Lebno, voiced by Takehito Koyasu. It premieres today, July 5, on Crunchyroll.
