‘Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow’ to premiere in 2027
Paramount announced Thursday that “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow,” will premiere on Nov. 12, 2027. The film, an adaptation of Gabrielle Zevin’s 2022 bestselling novel, stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as Sadie Green. Siân Heder will serve as writer and director
Per the logline, the film: “is a modern love story about two friends who meet as children and reunite as adults to create video games, finding an intimacy in digital storytelling that eludes them in their real lives. The relationship explores the passion, and heartbreak of creative collaboration, set against the visually groundbreaking worlds brought to life by the rising video game industry of the 1990s and 2000s.” Paramount announced Thursday that the film will premiere on Nov. 12, 2027.
‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ adaptation coming to Peacock
Seth MacFarlane is bringing the popular post-apocalyptic story “Dungeon Crawler Carl” to Peacock. The live-action series is an adaptation of Matt Dinniman’s popular novels.
Dinniman said: “Surprise! I’m happy to announce that our friends at Peacock have *officially* greenlit the Dungeon Crawler Carl television series! Me, Chris Yost and Seth MacFarlane and his team at Fuzzy Door are all really excited to get to work. Tracy Letts, Lola Kirke join ‘God of the Woods’ cast
On Thursday, Netflix said that Tracy Letts, Lola Kirke, John Gallagher Jr and Colton Ryan have joined the cast of Netflix’s “God of the Woods.” Previously announced cast members include Maya Hawke, Kerry Condon, Damon Gupton, Ella Rubin, Susannah Perkins, Benjamin Walker, Nell Fisher and Autumn Molina. The series is based on the 2024 bestselling novel by Liz Moore. The author and screenwriter Liz Hannah are working together as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers.
Hawke will play investigator Judy Luptack, who is assigned to figure out what happened to a young girl in upstate New York. Condon will play Alice Van Laar, whose daughter has gone missing. The story is set in the Adirondacks and centers on the Van Laar family’s secrets and past traumas and the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from summer camp.
Prequel series ‘Call the Midwife: Sisters in Arms’ is filming now
Set in Poplar during World War II, the prequel features “Call the Midwife” characters as their younger selves and is narrated by Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter).
The logline says: “In September 1939, Sister Monica Joan is in her prime, Sister Julienne and Sister Evangelina are young and zealous, and Nonnatus House is the beating heart of Poplar. Together with Sister Alice, and local GP Dr Kit, the nuns dedicate their lives to mothers, babies and the poor. But there is no gas and air, no penicillin, no cure for TB, and no welfare state. Then war is declared—and life gets even harder.” “Call the Midwife” is based on memoirs by Jennifer Worth.
Netflix announces the release date and shares first look at ‘The Perfect Lie’
Netflix shared details Wednesday on its upcoming Dutch drama, “The Perfect Lie.” The series is based on the best-selling novel “The Dinner Club” by Saskia Noort. Dorien Goertzen and Jop Esmeijer are co-writers of the series, which will stream on September 10. The cast includes Loes Haverkort, Teun Luijkx, Remko Vrijdag, Rifka Lodeizen, Charlie-Chan Dagelet, Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen, Noortje Herlaar and Edwin Jonker.
“We chose a different narrative structure and gave both the story and the characters a modern, contemporary twist,” said Goertzen. “The dream cast brings the characters to life in a way that exceeded all our expectations. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together with such a strong creative team, under the direction of Dana Nechushtan, and I cannot wait for the series to be available on Netflix soon.”
Disney sets animated adaptation of ‘Warrior Cats’
Popular fantasy series “Warrior Cats” is getting an animated adaptation on Disney and Disney+, thanks to a deal between Coolabi Group and Disney Kids & Family. The series will premiere in 2028.
The “Warrior Cats” novel series started in 2003 and there are now 100 books. The story follows the adventures of a group of feral cats. It was started by Victoria Holmes, who is one of the many writers working on the series under the pseudonym Erin Hunter.
‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ to conclude with Season 4
Norman Reedus is saying goodbye to a role he has played for 16 years—Daryl Dixon. On Tuesday, it was announced that “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” would conclude with its fourth season.
The star posted on Instagram: “Finally going through these photos to check off from the last episode now that I’m back from Mongolia it was really hard to kill any of them,” he captioned behind-the-scenes photos of Season 4. “I didn’t post any of those here, but I can’t wait for people to see this show the crew best I’ve ever worked with the feeling of accomplishment when it was over was just amazing.”
Nikki Glazer joins ‘Steps’ as Priscilla
Comedian Nikki Glaser joins “Steps” as villain Priscilla.
“Steps” tells the little-known story of Cinderella’s evil stepsisters, Lilith (Ali Wong) and Margot (Stephanie Hsu). Lilith steals the Fairy Godmother’s (Bette Midler) magic wand and takes over the famous ball with Margot.
“This dooms the kingdom to the tyrannical rule of the villainous Priscilla, who swoops in and snatches the throne,” a synopsis of the adaptation reads.
Lilith and Margot must team up with Cinderella (Amanda Seyfried) on a quest to save the kingdom.
The movie will premiere later this year and is the first film to be fully produced in-house by Netflix Animation Studios.
