This week in adaptation trailers: May 10 to May 16

‘My Adventures with Superman’ Season 3

Superman—the animated version—is heading back to the small screen next month according to a new trailer released by Cartoon Network. The third season of “My Adventures with Superman” finds Superman going head-to-head with a new foe. 

Jack Quaid voices Clark Kent/Superman, Alice Lee is Lois Lane, Ishmel Sahid is Jimmy Olsen and Kiana Madeira plays Kara Zor-El/Supergirl. The third season of the series premieres June 13.

‘Effi o Blaenau’

The trailer for “Effi o Blaenau” introduces audiences to Effi, a modern reinterpretation of the ancient Greek mythological character Iphigenia. Played by Leisa Gwenllian, Effi is a young woman caught in an endless loop of unemployment and late nights drinking and desperate to escape her life in Wales. 

“A chance encounter in a Llandudno nightclub with injured soldier Lee, played by Tom Rhys Harries, briefly opens a door to something better,” a synopsis of the film reads. “For a moment, Effi glimpses a life she never imagined. The reality that follows is far tougher.”

There’s no U.S. release date for the film, which is an adaptation of Gwen Owen’s 2015 play “Iphigenia in Splott.”

‘Every Year After’

Prime Video released the first trailer for upcoming romantic series “Every Year After” starring Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett. 

The trailer follows Percy (Soverall) as she returns to Barry’s Bay to attend the funeral of her mother-like figure Sue (Elisha Cuthbert). Sue also happens to be the mother of Percy’s long-time love interest Sam (Cornett). 

“Every Year After” is an adaptation of Carley Fortune’s “Every Summer After,” the first in a series of four books. The series hits Prime Video on June 10 and also stars Aurora Perrineau, Abigail Cowen and Joseph Chiu.

‘Your Fault: London’

Prime Video released its first full trailer for “Your Fault: London,” the sequel to the romantic drama “My Fault: London” starring Asha Banks and Matthew Broome. 

The trailer shows Noah and Nick’s lives beginning to pull them apart and test their relationship. Noah goes to Oxford to pursue her education, while Nick faces growing demands at work. 

“When new people enter their lives, stirring unexpected emotions and lingering jealousy, cracks begin to form,” a synopsis of the movie reads. “Trust is tested, passions flare, and the bond they once thought unbreakable starts to strain.”

The film, which adapts the book by Mercedes Ron, hits Prime Video on June 17.

‘East of Eden’

Netflix released its first teaser trailer for the series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “East of Eden.”

The series, which is expected to be released in the fall, stars Florence Pugh as Cathy Ames; Christopher Abbott as her husband Adam Trask; Joseph Zada and Joe Anders as their children Caleb and Aron; and Zoe Phillips as the twins’ love interest. 

The series tells “the multigenerational saga of the Trask family, focusing new attention on its indelible antihero, Cathy Ames,” a synopsis of the series reads.

‘Little House on the Prairie’

Netflix released another trailer for its forthcoming series adaptation of “Little House on the Prairie” on Monday. 

The video features scenes of daily life as the Ingalls family travels to live in the town of Independence, Missouri. Alice Halsey, as Laura Ingalls, narrates.

The series, which is set to hit Netflix on July 9, 2026, stars Luke Bracey as Pa/Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald as Ma/Caroline and Skywalker Hughes as Mary. Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys”) serves as developer and showrunner. 

Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote eight autobiographical children’s books that would later go on to be adapted into the long-running “Little House on the Prairie” series starring Melissa Gilbert and Michael Landon starting in 1974. The series also inspired spinoff books and other books compiled from Wilder’s writings after her 1957 death at age 90.

‘Sweet Magnolias’ Season 5

Everyone’s favorite Southern besties Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) and Helen (Heather Headley), their families and their relationship issues are back in “Sweet Magnolias” Season 5.

In the trailer Netflix released Monday, the ladies hit New York City. Maddie had received a job offer in publishing in the Big Apple at the end of Season 4 and the three–known as “The Sweet Magnolias” in their charming hometown of Serenity, South Carolina–decided to join her on a girls trip.

The series is based on the book series by Sherryl Woods. Season 5 is said to follow the story behind the book “Home in Carolina.”

“Sweet Magnolias” Season 5 will premiere June 11 on Netflix.
