Florence Pugh to star in Matt Haig’s ‘Midnight Library’

Florence Pugh is set to star and produce the upcoming film adaptation of Matt Haig’s 2020 novel “The Midnight Library.”

Haig announced it on Instagram: “The one and only Florence Pugh is Nora Seed. It’s happening. Directed by Garth Davis who made an amazing film called ‘Lion.’ Script by the supremely talented Nick Payne and Laura Wade. Blueprint Pictures and Studio Canal at the helm. The library is coming to life in 2027.”

The story follows Nora, a depressed woman who regrets many of her life choices. Through a magical library, she gets to experience different life paths to see which life is worth living. She explores lives where she is an Olympic swimmer, the lead singer of a famous band, a glaciologist in the Arctic, among other alternate versions of herself.

Davis recently directed Pugh in another adaptation, “East of Eden,” based on the John Steinbeck novel, for Netflix, which has yet to premiere.
