Diego Luna joins ‘Tangled’ cast

Diego Luna has been added to the cast of the live-action remake of “Tangled” in an unspecified role, The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline reported. Both films are adaptations of the story of “Rapunzel” by the Brothers Grimm. 

Luna joins Teagan Croft, who’s set to play Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider and Kathryn Hahn as the villain Mother Gothel. 

A release date for the children’s film has not been set. 

Jon Bernthal shares ‘Punisher’ pic

Jon Bernthal offered a glimpse behind the scenes of the forthcoming Marvel special “The Punisher: One Last Kill” on Friday. He posted a black-and-white photo of himself as the titular comic book figure with the caption, “You’re only one bad day from being me,” a line his character once said to his foe, Daredevil. 

Bernthal played the character, also known as Frank Castle, for one season of “Daredevil” and two seasons of “The Punisher,” which at the time were aired on Netflix. He reprised the role in “Daredevil: Born Again” after the two shows moved to Disney+. “The Punisher: One Last Kill” is set to air May 12 on the streamer and also stars Jason R. Moore and Roe Rancell. 

Richard Gere, Diana Silvers set for ‘Asymmetry’

Richard Gere and Diana Silvers have been cast in the upcoming adaptation of Lisa Halliday’s 2018 novel “Asymmetry,” Deadline reported. Silvers confirmed the news in an Instagram post

The story follows a young editorial assistant (Silvers) and an older author (Gere) who connect over writing and have a secret relationship. 

Cara Buono joins ‘Southern Bastards’

Cara Buono will be part of the pilot episode for the adaptation of the comic book series “Southern Bastards,” Yahoo reported. Buono’s talent agency, CESD, confirmed the news

She joins Kevin Bacon, Erin Kellyman and Tim McGraw in the potential series. 

The comic book series by Jason Aaron and Jason Latour is about a military veteran in Alabama on the search for her father. Instead, she comes across an organized crime scheme linked to the South’s favorite sport, football.
