First look at ‘The Whisper Man’
Netflix gave a first look at Adam Scott, Michelle Monaghan and Robert De Niro in “The Whisper Man” on Wednesday. Based on the novel by Alex North, the story follows a widowed crime writer whose son is abducted. He asks his former police detective father, with whom he is no longer in touch, for help. They find a connection to the serial killer known as “The Whisper Man.”
Catherine Zeta-Jones to star in ‘A Visit to Grandpa’s’
Catherine Zeta-Jones will star opposite Anthony Hopkins in “A Visit to Grandpa’s.” The film is inspired by a short story by Dylan Thomas, which tells the story of a boy’s summer with his unconventional grandfather on a Welsh farm. Thomas’ story appears in “Portrait of the Artist As a Young Dog.”
Tessa Thompson to star in thriller ‘Foxfinder’
Tessa Thompson, Owen Cooper, Ebon Moss-Bachrach will star in “Foxfinder,” based on the play by Dawn King. The story, a parable, follows a couple who are in mourning whose lives at their farm are interrupted by a government “foxfinder,” searching for a fox.
‘Boyfriend Material’ getting adapted
A24 has optioned the rights to adapt Alexis Hall’s queer contemporary romance “Boyfriend Material” into a television series. The 2020 novel follows disaster-prone nepo baby Luc O’Donnell, whose messy personal life becomes tabloid fodder. He agrees to a fake relationship with buttoned-up barrister Oliver Blackwood. What starts as PR damage control slowly turns into something real. We at Booked & Screened have been hoping for this to happen and wrote about it being on our wish list here.
‘Django/Zorro’ mashup coming to screen
Sony Pictures set writer Brian Helgeland (“L.A. Confidential”) to write a mashup of “Django/Zorro” based on Quentin Tarantino and Matt Wagner’s crossover comic book series. The story follows Django (Jamie Foxx’s character from “Django Unchained), who, along with Don Diego de la Vega aka Zorro, continues his work as a bounty hunter.
The ‘Night Agent’ adds Titus Welliver, more
Season 4 includes Titus Welliver as Duval, Li Jun Li as Min, Trevante Rhodes as Dom and Elizabeth Lail as Zoe. Agent Peter Sutherland’s (Gabriel Basso) gets a new mission in the new season. “It’s been a wild ride filming ‘The Night Agent’ in five countries across three continents … and we’re so thrilled that the adventures of Peter Sutherland will continue into Season 4,” said series creator, executive producer and showrunner Shawn Ryan.

Enola Holmes and Tewkesbury reunite in first look pictures
Netflix offered a first look at “Enola Holmes 3” on Monday. Premiering July 1, Millie Bobby Brown stars as the title character, who is Sherlock Holmes’ (Henry Cavill) younger sister. First look photos show Brown reuniting with her love, Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge), preparing for their wedding, standing alongside her older brother, facing her mother Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter) and encountering a fire.
James Gunn says ‘The Authority’ not moving forward
On Threads Monday, DCU chief James Gunn gave updates on upcoming projects. He said “The Authority” was not in the works. “The script wasn’t quite there but more importantly it didn’t work in terms of the larger DCU both in terms of the story and practical concerns,” he explained. “Maybe some day. Not soon.”
‘Spider-Noir’ to air early on MGM+
Prime Video’s “Spider-Noir” will premiere on MGM+ on May 25, two days before its Prime Video debut. The series stars Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a private investigator who becomes Spider-Noir.
