‘Heated Rivalry’ turns up heat again
“There will be more ‘Heated Rivalry’ on your TVs truly as soon as humanly possible,” creator Jacob Tierney told Gayle King on “CBS Mornings” on Thursday. Production on Season 2 is set to begin in August, with an expected premiere in April 2027.
First look: Marcellus, Tova, Cameron in ‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’
Netflix shared photos from its adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s bestselling 2022 novel, “Remarkably Bright Creatures.” The photos feature Tova (Sally Field), Marcellus the octopus and Cameron (Lewis Pullman). The film will premiere May 8.
Mark Rylance, Shira Haas join ‘Nightingale’
Mark Rylance and Shira Haas have joined TriStar Pictures’ adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s 2015 novel “The Nightingale.” The World War II drama stars real-life sisters Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning as French siblings navigating life under Nazi occupation. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on Feb. 12, 2027.
‘First-Time Caller’ film adaptation in development
B.K. Morrison’s 2025 romance novel “First-Time Caller” has been optioned by A Cup of Happy Productions. “Tell Me Lies” executive producer Laura Lewis is set to produce the adaptation. The book, which follows a jaded host of a Baltimore romance hotline, is the first in the “Heartstrings” trilogy.
Andrew Scott, Ciaran Hinds join ‘Walk The Blue Fields’
Andrew Scott, Ciarán Hinds and Tom Cullen will join Emily Blunt in Netflix’s “Walk The Blue Fields.” The film is based on the 2007 short story by Claire Keegan. Keegan’s 2021 short story, “Small Things Like These” was adapted into a 2024 film starring Cillian Murphy.
‘The Vampire Lestat’ to rise in June
AMC seems to be rolling out Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Lestat” news in installments. A teaser established a summer debut, a single showcasing Lestat’s rock chops dropped next and on Wednesday, we got a narrower time line: June. The exact date is still under wraps. The series is based on Rice’s 1976 novel. A featurette showing Lestat learning about Louis’ “Interview with the Vampire” book and reacting angrily dropped soon after.
Amy Lou Wood to lead ‘Jane Eyre’ series
‘White Lotus’ star Amy Lou Wood will star in a series adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s “Jane Eyre” for Working Title. Miriam Battye will write the script for the production company. The novel has previously been adapted several times, including a 2011 film starring Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender and for TV in 2006 starring Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens.
‘The Chestnut Man’ sequel gets release date
Netflix announced Wednesday that the sequel to “The Chestnut Man” will premiere May 7. The six-part series is based on Søren Sveistrup’s 2018 novel of the same name. Season 1 of the series premiered Sept. 29, 2021. Titled “The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek,” the sequel is based on Sveistrup’s upcoming novel “Hide and Seek,” due out July 7.
Lily Collins to play Audrey Hepburn
Lily Collins will star in an adaptation of the 2010 book “Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman” by Sam Wasson. The book follows Hepburn during the making of the 1961 movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
Adaptation of ‘The Haunting of Alejandra’
Hulu is developing a psychological horror series based on the 2023 horror novel “The Haunting of Alejandra” by V. Castro. The story draws on Mexican mythology. Steven Paul Martinez will write and produce the show.
BBC drama series ‘1536’
The BBC has acquired “1536,” a new drama series adapted from Ava Pickett’s 2025 play of the same name. Pickett said, “In a world where every decision made in the corridors of power ricochets through all of our lives, this story feels more relevant than ever.” It will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Carla Gugino to star in ‘Vivien and The Florist’
Carla Gugino will play Vivien Leigh in the autobiographical drama “Vivien & The Florist.” The film is based on a box of the award-winning actress’s love letters. Matthew Modine and David Hyde Pierce also star.
