This week in adaptation trailers: Feb. 15 to 21

‘Is God Is’

Amazon MGM Studios released its first trailer this week for the thriller “Is God Is.” The film is an adaptation of a 2018 play by the same name written by Aleshea Harris, who also directed the film.

It tells the story of twin sisters played by Kara Young and Mallori Johnson tasked by their dying mother (Vivica A. Fox) to kill their father (Sterling K. Brown). When the girls were children, their father set their mother on fire—leaving all three women with disfiguring scars—before abandoning his family.

The film hits theaters May 15.

‘Imperfect Women’

Apple TV released its first full trailer for “Imperfect Women” starring Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington and Kate Mara. Based on the 2020 psychological thriller book by Araminta Hall, the series centers on the mysterious death of Mara’s character, Nancy. As an investigation unfolds, it exposes the fractures in the women’s decades-long friendship. The series premieres March 18.

‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3

HBO teased the long-awaited return of “House of the Dragon,” a spinoff of its wildly successful “Game of Thrones” series.

Based on the book “Fire & Blood” by George R.R. Martin, the third season promises big battles, big drama and even bigger dragons as the two sides of the Targaryen family go to war over what else but the iron throne.

HBO has announced an official release date yet, but expects to air the season beginning in June.
