Elin Hilderbrand unveils Book 2 cover as ‘The Academy’ heads to TV

Elin Hilderbrand shared the cover for the second book in her boarding school series, “The Academy,” on Thursday.

The series debuted Sept. 2, 2025, and is already headed for the screen. Hilderbrand, best known for her Nantucket novels, recently found adaptation success with “The Perfect Couple,” starring Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber.

She co-wrote “The Academy” series with her daughter, Shelby Cunningham, drawing inspiration from Cunningham’s own boarding school experience.

Book 2, titled “The Thoroughbreds,” follows students at the fictional New England boarding school Tiffin as they enter their senior year. The first novel ended with several unanswered questions, setting the stage for the next installment. The sequel will be out in September.

Beyond “The Academy,” Hilderbrand’s novel “The Five-Star Weekend” is in development at Peacock with Jennifer Garner attached to star, while her “Paradise” and “Winter Street” series are also being adapted for television.
