‘Forsytes’ trailer promises plenty of family drama in Season 2

The first full trailer for Season 2 of “The Forsytes,” released Friday, promises plenty of romance, drama and intrigue for the Forsyte family.

The second season is expected to hit PBS Masterpiece programming sometime in 2027, but a specific release date has yet to be announced.

Returning is Joshua Orpin as Soames Forsyte, the operator of the family business who is married Irene, played by Millie Gibson. His cousin, the artist Jolyon Forsyte Jr. (Danny Griffin), meanwhile, has left society and his wife to start a family with, Louisa (Eleanor Tomlinson), his family’s former governess.

“In Season 2, Soames is determined to take total control of the family empire, but holding onto the Forsyte name comes at a heavy cost,” a synopsis of the season reads. “Between Jolyon’s double life, bitter rivalries and secret rebellions, the family’s picture-perfect legacy is starting to fracture from the inside out.”

The series also stars Francesca Annis, Stephen Moyer, Tuppence Middleton, Jack Davenport, Tom Durant-Pritchard, Jamie Flatters and Susan Hampshire. Joining Season 2 are Richard Rankin, Sarah Alexander and Nia Ashi.

“The Forsytes” is an adaptation of John Galsworthy’s “Forsyte Saga” novels.
