Author T.J. Klune announced in April that Warner Bros. is adapting his 2020 book, “The House in the Cerulean Sea.” The entertainment conglomerate will be developing the book into an animated series.
The book follows government worker Linus Baker, who is assigned to a home for magical children. The school is run by the mysterious Arthur Parnassus. Baker, who prides himself on being boring and normal, begins to question the rules he has always followed.
“The House in the Cerulean Sea” won awards, became a bestseller and built a loyal fan base, many of whom are eager for its upcoming animated adaptation.
The children include a garden gnome, a shapeshifter, the young Antichrist, a sprite, a wyvern and more. The fantasy novel inspired fanfiction and an outpouring of vibrant fan art, thanks to its unforgettable cast of characters.
While we wait to see Linus, Arthur and the children make their way to the screen, readers can already return to Marsyas Island in T.J. Klune’s 2024 sequel, “Somewhere Beyond the Sea.”
The 416-page book explores Arthur’s abusive past with the Department in Charge of Magical Youth and includes a new character–David, a 10-year-old yeti who has had a traumatic past and must learn to trust his new family on Marsyas Island.
Klune recently teased that he has finished another manuscript. In an Instagram post, the author said he had completed it after five months of writing, adding, “I can’t wait to show you how it ends.”
Fans won’t have to wait that long for more Klune, however. “Murmuration” arrives Nov. 17, followed by “The Stars Look Like Home” on Jan. 12, 2027.
Klune has also written 30-plus other books.
