On Thursday, the Television Critics Association announced winners of the annual TCA Awards. Several adaptations took home trophies.
“Heated Rivalry,” based on Rachel Reid’s bestselling “Game Changers” series, won Program of the Year. Starring Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, the show airs on Crave and HBO Max. Executive producers Jacob Tierney and Brendan Brady accepted the award. Season 2 is currently filming and is expected to return to screens in spring 2027.
“Death By Lightning,” based on Candice Millard’s 2011 nonfiction book “Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President,” won Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries or Specials. The Netflix limited series stars Michael Shannon, Matthew Macfadyen, Nick Offerman and Betty Gilpin. Offerman accepted the award.
“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” won Outstanding Achievement in Family Programming. The Disney+ series is based on Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson books. Stars Walker Scobell, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell and Tamara Smart accepted the award. Season 3 of the series will focus on the book “The Titan’s Curse” and premiere Nov. 20.
“Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical,” based on the characters of Charles Schulz’s popular comics, won Outstanding Achievement in Children’s Programming. The “Peanuts” special streams on Apple TV.
