The latest trailer for DC Studios’ “Supergirl” was released Wednesday, and offers glimpses of the heroine’s past.
The trailer includes scenes of Superman (David Corenswet) finding the rocket that his cousin, Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock), and her dog, Krypto, used to escape to Earth.
Superman appears again later in the trailer to present Kara with her Supergirl costume, which he explains: “I know it’s pretty colorful, but that’s just so everyone knows we’re good.”
The trailer also shows new footage of the film’s villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts), as he shoots and injures Krypto during an early encounter with Supergirl.
Antihero Lobo (Jason Momoa) also appears, riding his space-faring motorcycle and leaving destruction in his wake.
“When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice,” the film’s official synopsis reads.
“Supergirl,” directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, adapts the graphic novel “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The story follows Supergirl as she helps a young alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll (played in the film by Eve Ridley), to seek justice against the intergalactic criminal Krem and his gang.
The film also stars David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham.
“Supergirl” flies into theaters June 26. Tickets are now on sale.
About the author:
Ben Hooper is a firm believer that there should be more super pets in super hero movies, but understands why they might have written Comet the Super Horse out of this particular story. He won’t go into it right now, but sometimes Comet is a horse and sometimes he’s Kara’s boyfriend and, well, that’s a bit weird, right?
