Beatles actors cast for ‘Hamburg Days’

The six-part drama “Hamburg Days” about the early days of the Beatles has found its cast. The BBC, which will air the series, announced Rhys Mannion as John Lennon, Ellis Murphy as Paul McCartney, Harvey Brett as George Harrison, Louis Landau as Stu Sutcliffe and Patrick Gilmore as Pete Best. Also cast were Luna Jordan as Astrid Kirchherr and Casper von Bülow as Klaus Voormann. 

The series is based on the memoir of Voormann as he and fellow artist Kirchherr cross paths with the Beatles in the 1960s in Hamburg’s red-light district. 

“Together they help spark a transformation that turns a scrappy group of teenagers into the greatest music phenomenon the world has ever known: The Beatles,” a summary from BBC reads. Filming on the series has begun. 

Narges Rashidi wins BAFTA for ‘Prisoner 951’

Narges Rashidi picked up the BAFTA for Leading Actress for her role in “Prisoner 951” on Sunday night. The drama series is an adaptation of “A Yard of Sky” by Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Richard Ratcliffe. Based on a true story, it tells about how Zaghari-Ratcliffe (Rashidi), a British-Iranian citizen, was arrested at the airport in Tehran in 2016 and held for 6 years on spying charges.

‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ tops box office again

The Devil Wears Prada 2” pulled in $43 million this weekend, putting it at the top of weekend box office totals for the second week in a row. The sequel just edged out “Mortal Kombat II” by $3 million, BoxOfficeMojo.com reported. “Michael” had $36.5 million, “The Sheep Detectives” had $15.9 million and the Billie Eilish concert film had $7.5 million. 

Amazon shares ‘House of the Spirits’ photos

The Amazon MGM Studios X account shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the production of its new series, “The House of the Spirits.” The adaptation of Isabel Allende’s novel, an icon of the magical realism genre.

The series stars Alfonso Herrera, Nicole Wallace and Dolores Fonzi. It debuted on Prime Video on April 29.
