A24 shared a trailer for the Anthony Bourdain biopic, “Tony,” Tuesday.
The script was partly inspired by Bourdain’s popular 2000 memoir, “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly.”
The film’s logline says: “A 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain travels to Provincetown and stumbles into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen, setting off a summer that will shape the course of his life.”
Dominic Sessa stars as the famous chef. His other roles include 2023’s “The Holdovers” and 2025’s “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.”
The clip shows Bourdain’s path from writing student to cook, as he drinks too much and pursues a woman he knew from high school. It shows him gradually falling in love with the art of cooking.
Emilia Jones, Dagmara Dominczyk, Rich Sommer, Stavros Halkias, Leo Woodall and Antonio Banderas also star.
Matt Johnson is directing the film and wrote it alongside Matthew Miller, Todd Bartels and Lou Howe.
Bourdain died by suicide on June 8, 2018.
“Tony” will premiere in August 2026.
