Lionsgate Movies released a 16-minute video Friday offering a look back at its “Hunger Games” franchise, including some fresh clips from the forthcoming prequel.
“The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” which hits theaters Nov. 20, 2026, tells the story of the 50th games, known as the Second Quarter Quell. The film centers the character of Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada. Woody Harrelson originated the role in 2012 in the first “The Hunger Games” movie based on Suzanne Collins’ young adult dystopian series.
The film was followed by three more sequels—“Catching Fire,” “Mockingjay – Part 1” and “Mockingjay – Part 1”—and a prequel, “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.” The video release Friday gives audiences a recap of all five films and at the very end, a hint of what’s to come in “Sunrise on the Reaping.”
This section of the video shows clips of various characters across the timeline of the franchise as some of them repeat the word “remember.” We see Elizabeth Banks and Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, Amanda Plummer and Maya Hawke as Wiress, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jesse Plemons as Plutarque Heavensbee, Stanley Tucci and Kieran Culkin as Caeser Flickerman, Jeffrey Wright and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier, the late Lynn Cohen and Lili Taylor as Mags Flanagan, and the late Donald Sutherland and Ralph Fiennes as President Snow.
The clip finishes up with a shot of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Scot Greenan as a young version of her father, Burdock Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark and finally, Harrelson and Zada as Haymitch.
Fast forward the Lionsgate video to the 15:35 mark to see the new footage.
