‘The House in the Cerulean Sea’ to get animated series
T.J. Klune shared an article on Instagram Wednesday announcing that Warner Bros. is adapting his 2020 book, “The House in the Cerulean Sea.” The entertainment conglomerate will be developing the book into an animated series.
Kerry Condon joins Maya Hawke in ‘The God of the Woods’
Kerry Condon will play Alice Van Laar in “The God of the Woods,” which is based on the 2024 novel by Liz Moore. Maya Hawke will star as Judy Luptack in the eagerly anticipated thriller.
‘Bridgerton’ Season 5 adds 3 to cast
“Bridgerton” announced new casting Wednesday, fleshing out some of the characters involved in telling Francesca and Michaela’s story in Season 5. Joining the ever-expanding cast list for the Regency-era Netflix series are Tega Alexander, Jacqueline Boatswain and Gemma Knight Jones.
Amanda Seyfried to voice Cinderella in ‘Steps’
“The Housemaid” star Amanda Seyfried will voice Cinderella in Netflix’s animated movie “Steps.” The film takes Cinderella and evil stepsister Lilith, voiced by Ali Wong, and sends them on an adventure together.
‘Parable of the Sower’ to get film adaptation
Octavia E. Butler’s 1993 dystopian novel “Parable of the Sower” is getting a film adaptation. Melina Matsoukas, who helmed “Queen & Slim,” will direct. The popular book takes place in post-apocalyptic California. It follows teenage Lauren, who has hyperempathy” and leaves her home to start a new society.
Peabody Award nominees include adaptations
“Heated Rivalry,” written by Rachel Reid, and “Forever,” written by Judy Blume, are two of the book-to-screen nominees for the 86th annual Peabody Awards. The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on May 31. For the full list, visit the Peabody Awards site.
‘Memory of a Killer’ renewed for Season 2
Fox series “Memory of a Killer” will return for a second season. The series, which stars Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli, is inspired by Jef Geeraerts’ book “Memory of a Killer” and the 2003 Belgian film “De Zaak Alzheimer.”
Andy Serkis to return as Alfred in ‘The Batman II’
Bruce Wayne’s (Robert Pattinson) butler Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis) will be back for ‘‘The Batman” sequel. It’s a busy year for Serkis, as he is is the director of “Animal Farm” and is directing and starring in “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.”
Charley returns in Season 2 of ‘Dexter: Resurrection’
Charley (Uma Thurman) will be back for more violence in Season 2 of “Dexter: Resurrection.” The former Special Ops officer, who served as Leon Prater’s (Peter Dinklage) enforcer, left the city at the end of Season 1, after feeling betrayed by her boss. Is she back for vengeance? We don’t know.
‘One Piece’ Season 3 heads to Alabasta
Netflix Tudum announced Tuesday that “One Piece” is returning for a third season titled “One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta.” In Season 3, the group will go to the desert kingdom Alabasta, which is on the verge of a civil war. Their goal is to help Princess Vivi save her homeland. The live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga series stars Iñaki Godoy stars as pirate captain Monkey D. Luffy.
First look: ‘Dark Matter’ Season 2
Apple TV offered a first look at the second season of “Dark Matter” starring Jennifer Connelly and Joel Edgerton. The science-fiction series is set to return to the streaming platform Aug. 28. It’s based on the book of the same name by Blake Crouch.
‘Count My Lies’ starts filming with Lindsay Lohan
Entertainment Tonight recently shared footage of Lindsay Lohan and Shailene Woodley on the set of “Count My Lies.” in Brooklyn, N.Y. The series is based on the 2025 debut novel of the same name by Sophie Stava. Kit Harington also stars and Katherine LaNasa recently joined the cast.
