‘Dead Mall’ comics headed for the screen
Independent film production company Not the Funeral Home announced it has optioned the rights to adapt “Dead Mall” from Dark Horse Comics. Written by Adam Cesare and illustrated by David Stoll, the comic book series is about a group of teenagers who explore an abandoned mall, finding a nightmare-filled maze. Michael Verrati is expected to adapt the project.
Character pics from ‘Good Omens’ Season 3
The Instagram account for the “Good Omens” series shared new cast photos a little more than a month ahead of the Season 3 release. The cast photos include Donna Preston as Mrs. Sandwich, Andrew O’Neill as Mutt’s Spouse, Poppy Lee Friar in an unannounced role, Rich Keeble as Mr. Arnold, Anna Maryan as Justine and Mark Addy in an unannounced role. Season 3—set to be released May 13 on Prime Video—was originally supposed to be six episodes but reduced to a single, 90-minute episode.
Another crack at ‘Bonfire of the Vanities’
Deadline and Variety reported the writer/producer David E. Kelley is partnering with Apple TV to adapt Tom Wolfe’s 1987 novel “Bonfire of the Vanities.” Brian De Palma directed an adaptation of the story in 1990 starring Tom Hanks, Melanie Griffith and Bruce Willis. It was both a critical and commercial flop.
Ryan Coogler to bring ‘Animorphs’ to Disney+
The beloved 1990s Scholastic book series “Animorphs” is coming to Disney+ as a live-action series. “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler is set to executive produce on behalf of Proximity Media. The series follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously given the ability to morph into any animal they touch. They use these new powers to save Earth from a parasitic alien race.
