The final trailer for “Devil Wears Prada” 2 puts Miranda Priestly back in control—and Andy Sachs squarely in her path.
In the clip, released Monday, Miranda tells her former assistant she needs to “bide her time” as she waits for Andy to fail.
Andy, now an experienced reporter, is determined to make her new job as Features Editor at Runway magazine work.
The trailer starts with Miranda’s new intern, played by “Bridgerton” Season 2 star Simone Ashley, showing Andy to her office—which is overflowing with boxes, binders and other bulky items.
The long-awaited sequel to the 2006 film will hit theaters May 1.
Unlike many adaptation follow-ups, the new installment is not based on a sequel novel. Instead, it expands on the story world created by the original movie, which was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 book.
Throughout the trailer, Miranda challenges Andy, while Nigel (Stanley Tucci) again helps Andy with her wardrobe and the ever-stylish Emily (Emily Blunt) gives herself a motivational speech.
Other stars from the original who return in the sequel are Tracie Thoms (Lily) and Tibor Feldman (Irv).
New stars have joined the sequel: Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora.
Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the adaptation of the first film, returns as the screenwriter. She is also the writer behind “27 Dresses” and the co-creator of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.”
