‘Vampire Lestat’ gets June 7 premiere date
Season 3 of AMC’s “Interview with the Vampire” has officially been rechristened “The Vampire Lestat.” The first two seasons, adapted from Anne Rice’s 1976 novel, followed Louis de Point du Lac (Jacob Anderson) — and his unapologetically dramatic version of events. Now, drawing from Rice’s 1985 novel, the story shifts to Lestat (Sam Reid) and his dramatic side of the tale. The series returns on June 7 on AMC and AMC+.
‘Big Little Truths’
On Thursday, author Liane Moriarty announced her new novel, “Big Little Truths.” As the title implies, it will follow the characters of “Big Little Lies.” On Instagram, Moriarty posted, ”If you’ve missed Celeste, Madeline, Jane, Bonnie and Renata, I’m very happy to reveal the title of my new 2026 novel: Big Little Truths. More details coming very soon including release dates, cover reveals and your chance to pre-order a signed copy!”
‘Big Little Lies’
Earlier this week, in an interview with USA Today, Reese Witherspoon, who stars as Madeline in the HBO series adaptation of “Big Little Lies,” said she and Moriarty were in early talks about a third season of the series. “The children have grown up, they’re now teenagers, it’s been about 10 years… as you can imagine, parenting those age children’s got its sets of challenges,” she told the publication Tuesday.
‘Sense and Sensibility’ delayed
The latest adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility,” which was originally set to premiere on Sept. 11 has now been delayed until Oct. 16. The Focus Features film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esme Creed-Miles as sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood. Georgia Oakley is directing the film.
Kathryn Hahn confirms Mother Gothel role
It has been rumored for months that Kathryn Hahn has been cast as the evil Mother Gothel in Disney’s live-action version of “Tangled,” and the actress confirmed the news earlier this week. Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim were previously announced as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. The 2010 animated film “Tangled” was loosely based on “Rapunzel” by the Brothers Grimm and featured the voices of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy.
Kate Winslet heads to Middle-earth
Oscar-winner Kate Winslet will star in the upcoming film “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.” Her role has not yet been announced. Andy Serkis is directing the film and also returning as Gollum. The film is said to take place between the events of “The Hobbit” trilogy and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen are rumored to be returning as Frodo and Gandalf.
Billie Eilish in talks to star in ‘Bell Jar’
Grammy-winning singer Billie Eilish is in talks to star in Sarah Polley’s adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s 1963 novel “The Bell Jar.” Eilish last acted in Donald Glover’s Prime Video horror series “Swarm” in 2023.
More stars join ‘Custom of the Country’
More big names have been added to the cast of the Edith Wharton adaptation “The Custom of the Country” starring Sydney Sweeney, Leo Woodall and Josh Finan. The new names announced Wednesday include Rose Leslie, Matthew Goode, Martha Plimpton, Louis Garrel, Irene Jacob, Hugh Dancy, Ian Hart, James McArdle, Rosie Sheehy, Louisa Harland, Ronkẹ Adékọluẹ́jọ́, Dominic West and Miranda Richardson
Joe Alwyn joins ‘Seance on a Wet Afternoon’
Joe Alwyn will join Matthew Macfadyen and Rachel Weisz in the upcoming adaptation of Mark McShane’s 1961 novel, “Seance on a Wet Afternoon.” The book was previously adapted into a 1964 film starring Kim Stanley and Richard Attenborough.
Live-action Tinker Bell series in the works
Disney+ is creating a drama series titled “Tink,” based on Peter Pan’s fairy friend, Tinker Bell. Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter are the writers behind the adaptation. The character first appeared in J.M. Barrie’s 1904 play “Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up” and later in the 1911 novelization.
‘XO, Kitty’
Lana Condor, who starred as Lara Jean Covey in Netflix’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” movies, will appear in Season 3 of spin-off series “XO, Kitty.” Anna Cathcart stars in the spinoff as Lara Jean’s little sister Kitty who goes off to school at the Korean Independent School of Seoul. The three seasons of “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” were adapted from Jenny Han’s novel of the same name and its sequels, “P.S. I Still Love You” and “Always and Forever, Lara Jean.” “XO, Kitty” premieres on April 2.
