The live-action version of “Moana” is now streaming on Disney+.
The film stars Catherine Laga’aia as Moana and Dwayne Johnson as the demigod Maui. Like the 2016 animated version of the film, Moana must persuade the demigod Maui to go on a dangerous adventure to save her island community of Motunui.
The story of “Moana” is inspired by hundreds of years of Polynesian legends and storytelling.
The film was directed by Thomas Kail and features music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina.
It also stars John Tui, Frankie Adams, Rena Owen and Jemaine Clement. It premiered in theaters on July 10.
