‘Wicker’: Everything we know about the adaptation

“Wicker,” a fantasy-comedy starring Olivia Colman as a lonely fisherwoman who commissions a local basketweaver to create her a husband made of wicker, premieres Friday. Alexander Skarsgård plays her unusual spouse, whose arrival upsets the village. The film is an adaptation of 2008’s “The Wicker Husband,” a short story by author Ursula Wills-Jones. There’s a lot of hype around this film, so let’s see why (besides the casting of Skarsgård).

Story

“When her wicker husband proves more spectacular than she ever imagined, his soulful spirit and unique prowess awaken something inside her, setting off a wave of jealousy, fascination and upheaval that threatens the very fabric of village life,” a synopsis of the film reads.
