PBS Masterpiece’s “The Marlow Murder Club” is returning for a fourth season, adapting Robert Thorogood’s novel “Murder on the Marlow Belle.”
The series will also include original mysteries for the crime-solving protagonists to suss out.
Masterpiece Mystery! has yet to announce a release date for the new season, but community crime-solvers played by Samantha Bond, Cara Horgan and Jo Martin are returning. Natalie Dew, Holli Dempsey, Phill Langhorne and Tijan Sarr will also reprise their roles.
Martin plays Suzie Harris, a dog walker.
“Suzie has a new job. She’s still a dog walker. She’s multitasking,” she said in a post on the PBS Masterpiece website. “Now there’s a [new] job that she does in Season 4, and it’s very sociable … she’s picking up all the gossip. You get what I’m saying?”
A synopsis of the new season says it opens with the discovery of a body in a river that’s linked to the town’s amateur drama club. There are more deaths—a man who suddenly dies at his mother’s wake and the co-owner of a vineyard drowned in his own wine.
“Can the amateur sleuths navigate the family scandals and personal betrayals to unmask the killers in their close-knit community?” the synopsis reads.
Season 1 of “The Marlow Murder Club” adapted Thorogood’s novel of the same name. Season 2 was based on “Death Comes to Marlow” and Season 3 adapted “The Queen of Poisons.” Thorogood also published the fifth novel in the series, “The Mysterious Affair of Judith Potts,” this year. There’s no word on whether there will be a fifth season of the television series.
Thorogood is also the author behind the books that novelized the “Death in Paradise” TV series, which he also created.
