“Things We Never Got Over” by Lucy Score has recently been acquired by Prime Video to be adapted into a TV series. 

Published in 2022, “Things We Never Got Over” is the first book in Score’s bestselling “Knockemout” series. The novel follows Naomi, a runaway bride whose estranged twin sister Tina steals her car, purse and phone, leaving Naomi stranded in the small Virginia town of Knockemout with an 11-year-old niece she didn’t know existed.

There, she meets Knox, a gruff local barber, setting up the grumpy-sunshine trope that made the series a fan favorite. Two sequels followed in 2023. 

When announcing the adaptation, Score wrote on Instagram, “IT’S HAPPENING! Amazon MGM has officially ordered Things We Never Got Over to a series for Prime Video! The Knockemout TV show has been in development with Gina Girolamo’s Strega Stories and showrunners Nicole Snyder and Eric Charmelo. I promise I’ll have more information for you about the show soon.” 

Score is a bestselling romance author of over 70 books, including other series like “Riley Thorn,” which debuted in 2020, along with several standalone novels. 

This marks the first screen adaptation of one of Score’s works. Casting and release dates have not yet been announced.
