First look: Season 6 of ‘Slow Horses’
On Thursday, Apple TV shared a first-look at Season 6 of “Slow Horses.” The Emmy Award and BAFTA TV Award-winning spy drama stars Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Jack Lowden. Season 6 is based on “Joe Country” and “Slough House,” the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron’s “Slough House” book series. It will debut on September 16.
‘Love Story’ star Paul Anthony Kelly joins ‘The Housemaid’s Secret’
Paul Anthony Kelly, who recently starred as John F. Kennedy Jr. in the hit series “Love Story,” is making his film debut. The actor is joining the cast of “The Housemaid” sequel, “The Housemaid’s Secret.” The actor will star as Douglas. The Instagram account for “The Housemaid” shared the news on Thursday. The film, which also stars Sydney Sweeney, Michele Morrone and Kirsten Dunst, will premiere in theaters on Dec. 17, 2027.
Ryan Murphy adapts Bret Easton Ellis’ ‘The Shards’
Award-winning writer, director and producer Ryan Murphy is adapting Bret Easton Ellis’ “The Shards” for FX. The 2023 novel started as a serialized audiobook. It’s a semi-autobiographical story and takes place in 1980s Los Angeles. It follows wealthy teens at a prep school. It stars Igby Rigney, Homer Gere, Kaia Gerber, Wes Bentley and Evan Rachel Wood. It will premiere August 5 on FX, Hulu and Disney+.
‘The God of the Woods’ starts filming
Netflix posted a photo from the set of “God of the Woods” with the caption: “Welcome to Camp Emerson. The new Netflix series ‘The God of the Woods,’ based on the best-selling novel and starring Kerry Condon, Maya Hawke, Damon Gupton, Ella Rubin, Susannah Perkins, Benjamin Walker and Nell Fisher, is now in production.”
Mike Flanagan’s ‘Exorcist’ wraps filming
Mike Flanagan’s “Exorcist” film, which stars Scarlett Johansson, John Leguizamo and Sasha Calle, has wrapped filming. The project takes place within the world of “The Exorcist,” the horror franchise that began with William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel of the same name, but the new movie will tell an original story. The cast also includes Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. It is scheduled to premiere in March 2027.
Hugh Laurie, Joe Alwyn join ‘Legacy of Spies’ cast
Hugh Laurie and Joe Alwyn have joined the cast of BBC and MGM+ series “Legacy of Spies.” The series is adapted from John le Carré’s “The Spy Who Came in from the Cold” and draws from his 2017 novel “A Legacy of Spies.” Previously announced cast includes Matthew Macfadyen, Charlie Hunnam, Daniel Brühl, Dan Stevens, Devrim Lingnau Islamoğlu and Agnes O’Casey.
‘Horrible Science’ is returning for Season 2
CBBC and BBC iPlayer announced that “Horrible Science” is back for a second season. The series is based on the book series of the same name by Nick Arnold. Season 2 will feature special guests astronaut Tim Peake, Alex Horne and Greg Davies and will premiere on June 15.
Alison O’Donnell exiting ‘Shetland’
Alison O’Donnell is saying goodbye to “Shetland” after starring as Tosh for 13 years. The show is the first TV adaptation of the novels by crime writer Ann Cleeves. The new seasons is filming in Scotland and will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One later in the year. O’Donnell said: “Playing Tosh has been the greatest gift an actor could hope for. To be able to stay with the character, to allow her to grow in depth and maturity, and to be consistently rewarded and challenged by the writing and stories, has been such a rich and special experience.”
