The pipeline from page to screen shows no signs of slowing. Here’s a quick look at the latest adaptation announcements, casting updates and projects in development.

‘Dexter: Resurrection’ S2 is now filming, Quinn returns

Dexter” star Michael C. Hall shared a video on set alongside James Remar, who plays the ghost of his father, Harry. He said there will be a lot of new and returning guest stars and promised a “thrill ride.” Remar advised viewers to “Follow the code.” In more Dexter news, Desmond Harrington, who played Quinn in the original series, is now a series regular.

Sophia Bush joins ‘Count My Lies’

Sophia Bush is the latest star to join the highly anticipated Hulu thriller “Count My Lies.” The cast includes Lindsay Lohan, Kit Harington, Shailene Woodley and Katherine LaNasa. Bush will star as an architect named Allison. The series is based on the 2025 debut novel of the same name by Sophie Stava. Stava shared the casting news on Instagram, posting: “Just when I started to think this cast couldn’t get any better, THE @sophiabush joins the party! To say I’m thrilled is an understatement.”

‘Heated Rivalry’ and ‘Forever’ win Peabody awards

Heated Rivalry,” written by Rachel Reid, and “Forever,” written by Judy Blume, are now Peabody Award winners. The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on May 31. For the full list of winners, visit the Peabody Awards site. 

‘Clueless’ sequel not moving forward

The previously announced Peacock “Clueless” sequel, starring Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz once again, is not moving forward. The “Clueless” film and series were inspired by Jane Austen’s “Emma.”

The BBC acquires ‘The Sentinels’

The BBC will release an adaptation from Studiocanal based on the graphic novels “Les Sentinelles” by Xavier Dorison and Enrique Breccia. The eight-part wartime sci-fi drama will stream on BBC iPlayer and BBC Four. It follows wounded World War I soldier Gabriel, who, through a French military program, is injected with a serum and becomes superhuman. He joins with a unit of others like him, known as the “Sentinels.”

‘Heartstopper Forever’ to premiere on July 17 

The story picks up after the gang has taken their relationships to the next level in Season 3. Though an ensemble cast, the story focuses most on the relationship between sporty Nick (Kit Connor) and sensitive Charlie (Joe Locke). Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Jenny Waiser, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood also star. “Heartstopper Forever” will premiere on Netflix on July 17.

Ben Leonberg set to adapt Grady Hendrix’s ‘Ankle Snatcher’  

Filmmaker Ben Leonberg is set to direct an adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s novel “Ankle Snatcher.” The short story is included as part of Amazon Originals Stories’ Creature Feature collection and tells the story of Marcus, who grew up believing his father killed his mother and then blamed it on the boogeyman living under his bed. He faces the question of whether the boogeyman is actually real or if he’s delusional like his father.

Vas Saranga cast in Harlan Coben’s ‘I Will Find You’

Vas Saranga has been cast as Agent Dev Chopra in Netflix’s adaptation of Harlan Coben’s “I Will Find You.” The suspenseful thriller follows a father (Sam Worthington) who is serving life in prison for the murder of his own son. Innocent, he learns that his son might still be alive. To prove it, he must break out of prison. Saranga posted on Instagram, ”Your boy is pumped to join the cast of “I Will Find You.” Britt Lower, Milo Ventimiglia, Chi McBride, Erin Richards and Madeleine Stowe also star.  

‘Silence of the Lambs’ returns to theaters

Silence of the Lambs” returns to select theaters Sunday and Tuesday via Fathom Entertainment. The horror thriller is based on the 1988 suspense novel by Thomas Harris. Anthony Hopkins stars as “the late, great Hannibal Lecter” and Jodie Foster as Agent Clarice Starling. 

Rita Ora joins ‘Honeymoon with Harry’

Rita Ora has joined Amazon MGM’s adaptation of Bart Baker’s  novel “Honeymoon with Harry.” The dramedy follows a nonconformist (Jake Gyllenhaal) who, due to unforeseen circumstances, ends up on a trip with his reserved father-in-law (Kevin Costner). Deadline first announced the news, with Shari Shaw Studios confirming the news.  Sarah Pidgeon also stars. 

Ethan Embry joins ‘Cross’ as series regular

Ethan Embry will join Season 3 of the Prime Video series “Cross” as Frederick, a sobriety coach. “Cross” is based on the James Patterson Alex Cross book series. Aldis Hodge stars as Alex Cross, a homicide detective and forensic psychologist. Isaiah Mustafa and Juanita Jennings also star. 

‘Miles High Club’ series gets TV adaptation

Author T.L. Swan shared a Deadline article and announced that her books “The Miles High Club” are becoming a television series. “And as I woke up to this announcement today I still can’t quite actually believe it,” Swan posted. The romance series centers on the Miles brothers, handsome billionaires who own Miles Media. Each book focuses on a brother finding love. Book titles include “The Stopover,” “The Takeover,” “The Casanova,” “The Do-Over” and “Miles Ever After.”
