Apple TV released its first teaser for the third season of “Silo,” showing that, for the first time, the sci-fi series is going to delve into the events that led to the seeming collapse of society. 

Though the series is venturing back hundreds of years before the timeframe of Season 1 and 2, Juliette, played by Rebecca Ferguson, is still a primary focus of Season 3. The teaser includes clips of her and the settlers in her dystopian society interspersed with characters from the past. 

In voiceover, she says: “Before we can know why we’re here, before we can know why everything is as it is, before we can know how it all will end, we need to understand how it all began.”

A summary of the season from Apple TV reads, “In the present, Juliette Nichols (Ferguson) survives her forced ‘cleaning’ but returns with memory loss as the silo recovers from rebellion and faces a dangerous new threat. Meanwhile, in the ‘Before Times,’ journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) and Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman) uncover a conspiracy that pulls them into a chain of events with catastrophic, irreversible consequences.”

“Silo,” which is based on the series of novels by Hugh Howey, also stars Colin Hanks, Common, Harriet Walter, Jessica Brown Findlay and Steve Zahn. Season 3 debuts on Apple TV on July 3.
